DuoFlix ("we", "us", or "our") operates the DuoFlix mobile application (the "App"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information when you use our App.

Information We Collect

When you create an account, we collect:

Authentication data — your name and email address, provided through Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In.
User-generated content — your swipe preferences (liked/skipped titles), personal watchlist, and shared watchlist data.

We do not collect location data, contacts, photos, health data, financial information, or any other sensitive personal information.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Authenticate your account and maintain your session.
Store your swipe history and watchlist preferences.
Match your liked titles with the other person in your room to build a shared watchlist.

We do not use your data for advertising, analytics profiling, or marketing purposes.

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

Firebase Authentication — to manage user sign-in. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Cloud Firestore — to store your watchlist and swipe data. Data is stored in Google Cloud infrastructure.
TMDB API — to retrieve movie and TV show metadata (titles, posters, ratings). No personal user data is sent to TMDB. Use is governed by TMDB's Privacy Policy.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore and is protected by Firebase's built-in security rules. We restrict access so that only you and the person you are paired with can view your shared data. All data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Your watchlist data is only shared with the person you are paired with inside the App.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings screen within the App. Upon deletion, all your personal data, swipe history, and watchlist data will be permanently removed from our systems.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
